ТАНЕЦ с КИНЖАЛАМИ– The Lezgian dance of knives. This dance has much of its origins in the martial music of ancient iran going back at least to Iran’s Parthian and even Achaemenid military traditions. The Ajameti Music and dance of Georgia, also features dances with knives, and features music virtually identical to tthat of northern Iran (Gilan and its provincial capital Rasht in particular).
Persian Lezgian dance. Lezgian dances were popular throughout Iran as much of the Caucasus was Iranian territory until the Russian conquests of the 19th century. Strong traces of Iran’s Caucasian remain in Iran’s folklore dances, notably in Azarbaijan and Gilan.
